Hi to everyone from sunny, hot Gambia!

I thought some of you might be intrested in what I'm doing and how the school is doing.

I'm hoping to build up good communication links between all the children and you their sponsors. Eventaully we are hoping to get internet at school which will make communication even easier! Please can I encourage you to write to your child. They love to receive letters and will write back to you.

So, I'm here living on the school grounds along with some of the other staff. I'm very happy living here, even though I only have 1 room with a a bed. That is it at the minute! Soon I will be buying some more furniture! Like a chair and desk. Everyone, staff and children have made me feel really welcome and I am quite at home.

The school has 5 classes. Grade 1 - 5. Grade 1, 3 and 5 are taught by qualified teachers. Grade 2 and 4 by classroom assistants that are overseen by a teacher. I have taken on the teaching of grade 4 and I am loving it!

School starts at 8.30am with registration. They have 2 breaks, 1 and 11am and 1 at 1.30pm. At 11 they are given "breakfast" and a cup of tea! Thank you to all our sponsors on behalf of the children for providing them with this food. They are very grateful for it! School finishes at 3.
