Seedlings for Christ

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act - Proverbs 3 v 27

We at Seedlings for Christ totally believe in the power of prayer. We have been witness to many many miracles, small and large of God answering us in amazing ways.

We cannot go forward in our work without first looking to Him for His Guidance

*As you know Gambia is a very poor country, many thousands living in horrific poverty and squalor. Please pray that God will continue to use us to bring hope to these peoples lives that we come into contact with.

*Please pray for the new school. That sponsors will be found for new children wanting to start. The school must take on more students for it to be self-sufficient so we are really relying on God to provide the finances up until that point. Please pray that the money will be there to enable the school to run. Praise the Lord for new sponsors that have come forward since December enabling another 30 - 35 children to start. Please continue to pray for more sponsors.

*We would love for the school to not just be a building, but to be something that serves the community as a whole. We have visions of it being used in the evenings for different groups/activities. Please pray that God's light and love will shine from this building and that His will will be done in respect of what activities take place there.

*Please pray for the November 2010 and March 2011 teams. That God will bring in those people he wants and that we will continue to see many miracles as He works in and through us. Please pray that the right people will be involved with the trip and will have all the skills needed for the work God has planned for this group. Please contact Ruth if you are interested in coming.

*More teachers. Ideally we need 4 more qualified teachers. Please pray that God will release the finances so that we can employ at least 2 more teachers ready for the start of term in September.

*There is another real need for text books for September Term. At present they only have one per class so the teacher has to copy all the questions etc onto the blackboard. This is far from idea as we're sure you can understand. Again, please pray that funds will come in to enable us to purchase new text books for the children

*Jojo has started lessons in Wollof, a local tribal language. She says she has always struggled with languages so please pray that the Lord will loosen her tongue and give her sound mind to hear and speak the words.

*Please can you pray that Father God will provide sponsors for the food programme at school. Many children only eat 1 meal a day and that would consist of rice with some kind of sauce. We are giving then Tapalapa (bread) during the day but this is a huge outgoing per month.

*Protection for the school and for Jojo. Seedlings School is right in the middle of Manjai region. Something like a township. It is mainly Muslim but we know Maribu (Witch Doctors) are operating in this area too. Pray that Angels would encamp around our walls and doorway. Please pray that the fragrance of Jesus would go out from our school and land and that it would be such a witness to the area. Pray for favour with the Alkalo (chief).

*That God would sabotage all plans and strategies the enemy has against us. We have become increasingly aware since our last trip that as Christ's name was lifted up throughout Gambia the enemy really does not like it. We are aware the enemy has come against us in various ways.

*Please pray for wisdom, strength and discernment as we seek to go ahead in what God has called us to in this land. A number of us have felt more and more strongly the call for sharing the Gospel in Gambia. So far as we ministered to rural tribal villiages we would choose the smallest of the villages and stay for a time, sharing the gospel, maybe watching the Jesus film and praying for the sick. We feel more called now to spend more time in a satellite village, perhaps sleeping overnight, and generally spending more time with them sharing Christ. We are excited about this.
